POKOTABI / Hokimatei
ほきま亭
Located in Hokima, Adachi Ward, Hokimatei serves freshly steamed kamameshi featuring seafood, salmon, and salmon roe, alongside sashimi, tempura, and weekday lunchtime sets in a relaxed dining setting.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
At Hokimatei, kamameshi—rice steamed to order in individual iron pots—is one of the house specialties, offering the small anticipation of lifting the lid at the table. Choices range from seafood kamameshi brimming with prawns, salmon, mini scallops, and bamboo shoots, to combinations like salmon and salmon roe, chicken and burdock root, spicy pollack roe, crab, oysters, and eel. Because steaming takes time, pots can be reserved ahead. The toasted crust forming at the bottom of the vessel adds a deeply savoury finish to every portion.
Alongside kamameshi, the restaurant is trusted for both casual dining and memorial gatherings with its carefully composed sets. The sashimi and tempura set and classic tempura set showcase freshly fried prawns, conger eel, squid, and vegetables. During the midday hours, familiar comforting fare takes centre stage, including katsuni lunch sets, katsu curry, and sushi paired with chilled zaru soba. Midday dining often includes after-meal coffee, giving guests time to unwind before heading out.
In the evening, Hokimatei functions as an izakaya where diners can pair beer or sake with small dishes like simmered beef tendon, fresh yuba sashimi, Hokkaido octopus sashimi, and made-to-order tempura. The dining room features partitioned table seating alongside traditional tatami rooms, offering an unhurried atmosphere for conversation and food. Whether you are seeking a hearty lunch or gathering with family and friends in Adachi's Hokima neighbourhood, it is a versatile spot to have on hand.
